Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 February 2026

1. Purpose

This Privacy Policy explains how Social Discovery processes data when you browse the website, as well as the choices available to you.

2. Data controller

The data controller is the publisher of the Social Discovery website (published on a non‑professional basis). For any request relating to data protection: [email protected].

3. Data processed while browsing

3.1. Technical data (operation and security)

Technical logs may be generated by the hosting infrastructure and the web server to ensure the security, diagnosis, and proper operation of the website (e.g., date/time, requested resource, technical browser information). These logs are not used for advertising tracking purposes. They are kept for a limited period (in principle up to 30 days), unless required due to a security incident or a legal obligation.

3.2. Audience measurement (Plausible Analytics)

The website uses Plausible Analytics to measure traffic and performance in a privacy‑friendly way. Plausible does not use tracking cookies.

  • Data/statistics categories: page views, referrer, device type (desktop/mobile/tablet), browser/OS, approximate location (city/country).
  • Important: the IP address and user agent are used ephemerally to produce aggregated statistics (counting unique visitors via a daily identifier), but are not stored as such.
  • Purposes: anonymous statistics, detection of browsing issues, improvement of performance and usability.
  • Legal basis: legitimate interest (audience measurement strictly limited to the website).
  • Retention period: audience statistics are retained in aggregated form for trend analysis (for example up to 24 months), without building an individual visitor history.

4. Cookies and trackers

Social Discovery does not use advertising cookies or cross‑site tracking cookies. Plausible Analytics is used without cookies.

However, the website may use strictly necessary trackers for operation (e.g., saving an interface preference), where applicable via local browser storage.

  • Examples: interface language, display preferences, selected categories.
  • Purpose: to improve usability and avoid asking you for the same choices again.

5. Content and links to third‑party services (YouTube)

Social Discovery lists channels and links to YouTube. When you follow a link to YouTube or load resources coming from YouTube/Google (for example thumbnails), these services may process data about you (including your IP address and browsing data), in accordance with their own policies.

6. Data relating to listed channels (public data)

Social Discovery aggregates and displays public information relating to YouTube channels (e.g., channel name, description, thumbnail, public statistics). This information may, depending on the case, contain personal data (for example if a channel corresponds to an identifiable person).

  • Source: public data accessible via YouTube.
  • Purpose: to provide a catalog and discovery filters for channels.
  • Legal basis: legitimate interest (discovery service / directory).
  • Duration: as long as the channel is listed and this remains relevant to the purpose of the website (with possible updates).
  • Requests: you can report an error (language, category, information) via [email protected].

7. Recipients and processors

Data may be processed by:

  • The publisher (administration and maintenance of the website).
  • The website host: OVH SAS.
  • Audience measurement: Plausible Analytics (statistics provider).

8. Transfers outside the European Union

Plausible statistics are hosted within the European Union. However, certain third‑party resources and services (including YouTube/Google) may involve transfers outside the EU depending on their own setup and infrastructure.

9. Security

Reasonable technical and organizational measures are implemented to protect the website and limit unauthorized access (e.g., TLS/HTTPS encryption, minimization principles, access controls).

10. Your rights

In accordance with applicable regulations, you have in particular:

  • the right of access, rectification, and erasure;
  • the right to restriction and the right to object, where applicable;
  • the right to lodge a complaint with the CNIL (French data protection authority).

To exercise your rights: [email protected].

11. Changes

This Policy may be updated. The version in force is the one published on this page.
